LEGOLAND commissioned IDC models to design and manufacture a Ninja themed 'Lego Mini Land' to be sited in outdoor shopping centres across Europe. The brief was to design and manufacture various mechanisms to power the LEGO animations. It was crucial that these mechanisms were robust, simplistic, weather proof, corrosion free, and thief proof and able to run for 12 months straight with virtually no maintenance needed. IDC models came up with the mechanism designs in-house which they then machined, assembled, tested and delivered. The techniques used included manual and CNC machining. The process involved consistent testing of parts to ensure they met the criteria set by LEGOLAND. These designs were then developed further to overcome any obstacles found during testing.
